Tobeya Ibitayo (he/him) is a research coordinator in the lab of Dr. Phillip Marotta at the Social Policy Institute and a second-year student in the MPH program at the Brown School, specializing in epidemiology and biostatistics. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, where he double majored in anthropology and African & African-American studies. He is also a graduate research assistant with the Gun Violence Initiative at the Institute for Public Health and 2023 Graduate Policy Scholar at the Clark-Fox Policy Institute. His research interests include the history of science and medicine, firearm violence prevention, and health policy analysis and evaluation, specifically regarding public health adaptation strategies in response to climate change.
In addition to serving on the Graduate Student Affairs Advisory Board and the Libraries Student Advisory Group, Tobeya currently serves as president of the Student Coordinating Council, the student-led governing body of the Brown School. He is a contributing writer for St. Louis Magazine and a member of the selection committee for the St. Louis Literary Award. In his free time, he enjoys reading, hiking, and playing the cello.
