Oren is the research director, Israel, at the Social Policy Institute. He leads SPI research in Israel and is involved in SPI establishment in Israel. Oren is a labor economist and a specialist in intergenerational mobility, on which he wrote his PhD dissertation at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. For more than 8 years, Oren served as a senior economic researcher in the research department of the National Insurance Institute in Israel, in a role in which he studied the socio-economic gaps of Israeli society and co-authored the annually published Official National Report on Poverty and Social Gaps. He also managed the NII Research Fund supporting academic studies on the Israeli social security system. Oren also holds a BA in mathematics and economics and an MA in economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
