Refund to Savings: Canada
Research Agenda
Following SPI’s work with the Refund to Savings Initiative, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) became interested in pursuing a similar tax time savings initiative for Canadian tax filers. In 2017 and 2018, the SPI team, Intuit, and representatives of the Canadian government engaged in planning and scoping discussions for this work. We are now in the process of developing intervention plans in partnership with Intuit and the FCAC, with an intention of piloting several savings interventions in 2020.
