DSI Learning Cohorts

Sign up for a Data for Social Impact (DSI) Learning Cohort!

What is a DSI learning cohort?

DSI participants have shared that they are interested in more opportunities to connect with and learn from other social sector practitioners. Learning cohorts were created in response to this feedback. DSI learning cohorts provide a space for social sector practitioners to meet regularly to share ideas, explore questions, and identify resources in a supportive environment. They are designed for a wide range of users and sectors, with no prior data experience required.

The DSI-STL Data Equity learning cohort is open to people who live or work in the St. Louis region who are interested in cultivating equitable, collaborative data practices. Meetings will be every third Wednesday from 12:30 – 2 pm central time on the following dates: April 17, May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21, September 18, and October 16.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are learning cohort synchronous or asynchronous?

Both! Each DSI learning cohort is structured as 7-part discussion series that aligns with a free online course designed to support organizations in cultivating equitable, collaborative data practices. Participants in each cohort will go through the DSI course together, with both self-paced asynchronous content and facilitated real-time discussion on Zoom.

Do I have to commit to every session in order to sign up?

While we encourage participants to attend every session, we recognize this is not always feasible. If you are able to make the majority of the sessions for the cohort listed, you will still get a lot out of participating!

Will we have input into what topics are discussed each session?

Yes! At the end of each module, you will be asked to fill out a very brief module reflection. This is a space for you to ask questions, share your thoughts and ideas, and indicate what resonates most for you and your work. We will use these to structure the discussion for the next session.

Will there be homework?

Sort of. Each month, you are asked to work through the module to be discussed in the next month’s meeting. This should take about an hour of your time.

Will I receive a certificate at the end of all of this?

Yes! Anyone who completes the online course is eligible to receive a certificate of completion simply by filling out the brief module reflections.
