Racial, gender, generational and educational wealth gaps have been large, enduring and exacerbated further by the pandemic. What can be done to address these inequities and offer pathways to building savings and wealth?
Join the Social Policy Institute and Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis for an in-person event, “The Future of Building Wealth: Research, Policy & Action,” from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (CT) on Oct. 11, 2022 with a reception to follow. The event will include the co-editors of and select contributors to the book, The Future of Building Wealth: Brief Essays on the Best Ideas to Building Wealth—For Everyone. All attendees will receive a free copy of the book. This event takes place in person at the Clark-Fox Forum in Hillman Hall at Washington University in St. Louis. The event is co-sponsored with the Aspen Institute Financial Security Program, Center for Social Development at Washington University, and Heartland Forward.
Speakers will address:
- The latest data and trends around wealth inequality in the U.S.;
- Why the tax-filing moment is a golden opportunity to build savings and assets;
- How Child Development Accounts can foster a future orientation and build lifelong assets;
- An innovative community growth and “builders” program;
- The promise of financial capability strategies for building stronger balance sheets; and
- Cutting-edge financial inclusion products and strategies.
