Gary Parker
Senior Advisor
Gary Parker serves as a Senior Advisor supporting the institute’s strategic growth, communications and policy initiatives. He also directs the Clark–Fox Policy Institute, a primary collaborator with the Social Policy Institute. Through this collaboration, he plays a critical role in supporting SPI’s translation of research into evidence–based policy for dissemination to community leaders, policy makers and legislators. As the Associate Dean for External Affairs at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, he oversees communications, professional development courses and the School’s Evaluation Center. An accomplished writer, he has published articles in academic journals as well as opinion pieces in mainstream publications, including in The New York Times. He teaches in such areas as community organizing, social policy, and legislative advocacy. Gary brings a passion for applied research and social justice to all of his work and continually seeks to put theory, his academic training, and his commitment to stakeholder collaboration into practice to advance economic, health and racial equity.
